Death Note US Live-Action Now Has a Director!

Deadline has just recently reported that Warner Bros. Hollywood Adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's popular manga, Death Note now has a director! This is the fourth time that we will have a live-action Death Note film, the original Japanese Death Note Live-Action Trilogy was produced by Warner Bros. Japan.

This film will be produced by Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Brian Witten with Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry writing it and Shane Black (Lethal Weapon 1 & 2, Last Action Hero, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) directing the film! Shane Black himself is a big fan of the original manga and I quote: “It’s my favorite manga, I was just struck by its unique and brilliant sensibility,” Black said.

What we want to do is take it back to that manga, and make it closer to what is so complex and truthful about the spirituality of the story, versus taking the concept and trying to copy it as an American thriller. Jeff Robinov and Greg Silverman liked that.”

Special thanks to MyAnimeList for the tip!

Knowing that the director of the US live-action Dath Note film is a fan, I have high hopes that this film will really work.
