3rd Detective Conan Live Action Special Soon!

On the 10th volume of Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine will announce that the production on a new live-action Detective Conan special is on the works! The last live-action special was a straight to DVD feature called, Shinichi Kudo Returns! Confrontation with the Black Organization (pictured above) which was released last March 23, 2007.

The said special is part of the 15th Anniversary celebration of the television anime series. More details will be in the next volume of the magazine on February 9. It is still not sure if Shun Oguri will reprise his role as Shinichi Kudo nor Nao Fujisaki as Conan. The first live-action special was released for the 10th Anniversary of the said manga/anime series.

I've watched both specials and it revived my interest with the series! Hope that they will add Kaito Kid or Heiji Hattori in the new special!

Detective Conan 15th Anniversary Themes

The popular detective anime, Detective Conan (also known as Case Closed) changed its theme songs beginning last January 8, with tear drops by Caos Caos Caos as their 30th (!) opening theme and the Juugoya Crisis ~Kimi ni Aitai~ by Hundred Percent Free as the show's 37th (!) ending theme.

Caos Caos Caos makes their major debut this year with their opening theme song, tear drops, and Hundred Percent Free made their major debut last year.

In the opening sequence, Nori Shiraishi of Caos Caos Caos appears in animated form, performing a dance found in the music video of the song.

In the past, Conan did a Para-Para Dance (on top) to member Rina Aiuchi’s song, Ai ha Thrill, Shock, Suspense, but this is the first time Rina Aiuchi has directly collaborated on a theme song. On the backside of the jacket for their new single, there will also be an illustration of characters from Detective Conan making signature dance poses. This new single will be released on February 23rd.

In addition, Hundred Percent Free’s Juugoya Crisis ~Kimi ni Aitai~ will be their fourth single release to date and will come out on January 26th.

Detective Conan: Quarter of Silence Revealed

It is confirmed on the official Detective Conan movie website that the 15th Detective Conan film will be called Quarter of Silence. It will be released in Japan in April 16, 2011 to commemorate the 15 years of the popular detective anime/manga written by Gosho Aoyama (Yaiba).

The story begins with a threat against the Tokyo governor, but Conan's quick thinking prevents any fatalities when a subway tunnel is blown up. Conan learns there may be a connection to a village that was relocated for the construction of a dam, and he races to stop the criminal before the next attack.

Wow. The franchise lasted for fifteen years and I am still surprised that here in the Philippines, we are still stuck at Season 6 with some episodes skipped!

Detective Conan - Smooth Criminal AMV

To those who have watched Detective Conan back in GMA back in the early '02-'03 (I forgot the exact year), they use Alien Antfarm's cover of Smooth Criminal in their Detective Conan ads, hence I got really interested in this show! Here's an AMV in less than a minute using that song, this time, the original Michael Jackson version!

I also spotted two more Detective Conan AMV's using the Alien Antfarm cover, but those videos were either mediocre or country restricted due to copyright claims.

Detective Conan is still airing on local TV here but they skipped a lot of episodes, losing the substance of Black Organization in the long run and made much focus on the detective bit. Aside from that, they are planning to air the live-action adaptation of Detective Conan this year... but since its November, they might air it next year due to their timeslots filled with KDrama.
