Toei Animation Studios is featured here in the Philippines countless times and just recently, a Japanese TV station, Kansai TV had a special that focuses on the in-between animation of the popular anime, One Piece!
Aside from that, they also featured anime influences here in the Philippines such as cosplay (in which a friend of mine was featured), people watching anime on TV, anime art found on local jeepneys and manga available in bookstores. Also, the local dubbing of One Piece is also featured and all I have to say is, poor Vincent Gutierrez. If only that guy hear his Lelouch voice!
Toei Animation Studio Philippines was established back in 1986 will celebrate its 25th Anniversary this year and is responsible in doing key animation and in-between animation for your favorite anime titles! The facility was established as a measure to cut costs for the company, since the production work being done in Korea was becoming prohibitively expensive. Currently, it houses over 150 animators and support staff, and they work on the bulk of the animation process for each episode of One Piece except for storyboarding and post production. This studio help produce the Japanese Toei Studio popular anime titles such as: Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon and Slam Dunk back in the day.
Currently, they are working on with One Piece, Dragon Ball Kai, Heartcatch! Pretty Cure (in which in one local TV feature, was mistaken as Sailor Moon *points at Ka-Blog*) and the upcoming Jump Heroes Film in which they are working on Toriko's part! Other anime films that they were involved are some of the Pretty Cure films and Clannad the Movie in which they are featured at the end credits!
Fun fact: According to this feature, The Philippine Toei Animation Studio produces more anime frames compared to its Japanese counterpart! Cool!
Just wondering: At the end of the video, according to the narrator, based on how I see it, it seems that Eiichiro Oda is part of those who are watching this special. To those who understand Japanese, please tell me.
Just wondering 2: Also, even if we have a Toei Studio here, we are still on stuck on the same season for more than a year (to be exact, One Piece here in the Philippines is still on Season 9, current season is 13), hopefully that GMA will finish this season this year.
At the end of the video, all I can say is, I am proud to be a Filipino and in case I will go the capital, one of the places that I want to visit is the Toei Studio here in the Philippines!
Special thanks to JEFusion for the link and Magnetic Rose for the additional info!
